Extending our reach to assist deserving horticulture students through an endowed scholarship
Georgia Master Gardeners come from a variety of different backgrounds and careers. Somewhere along the way we all discovered a passion for growing things, lifelong learning and sharing that knowledge with others. It is our sincerest desire to help students at the University of Georgia, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, find the same passion for growing, learning, and teaching through the Georgia Master Gardeners Scholarship.
The scholarship will be awarded by the Department of Horticulture to a junior or senior major who is a Georgia resident. Because the Georgia Master Gardener program enhances and supports the work of Cooperative Extension, special consideration may be given to students who have an expressed interest in pursuing careers in Extension.
The UGA Foundation will administer the scholarship fund. All Master Gardeners, local Master Gardener groups, GMGA sponsors and friends are encouraged to contribute. Total deposits of $25,000 must be accumulated before the first Master Gardeners Scholarship can be awarded, but of course, the larger the endowment, the greater the benefits to future generations of students.
The Georgia Master Gardener Association, Inc., a 501(c)(3) organization, established this scholarship on behalf of all Georgia Master Gardeners as part of its commitment to education and in support of the University of Georgia, College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences, and Cooperative Extension.
