Extending our reach to assist deserving horticulture students through an endowed scholarship
Georgia Master Gardeners come from a variety of different backgrounds and careers. Somewhere along the way we all discovered a passion for growing things, lifelong learning and sharing that knowledge with others. It is our sincerest desire to help students at the University of Georgia College of Agricultural and Environmental Sciences find the same passion for growing, learning and teaching through the Georgia Master Gardener Scholarship.
The purpose of the Fund is to provide scholarships for students pursuing degrees at the University of Georgia, College of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, in the Department of Horticulture.
Scholarship recipients shall be juniors or seniors selected by the Department based on academic criteria established by the department.
Preference shall be given to Georgia residents who are majoring in Horticulture, but students majoring in closely related fields may be considered. Because the Georgia Master Gardener program enhances and supports the work of Cooperative Extension, special consideration may be given to students who have an expressed interest in pursuing careers in Extension.
Funding the Scholarship Endowment
The University of Georgia Foundation will administer the scholarship fund.
All Master Gardeners, local Master Gardener groups and friends are encouraged to contribute. An initial deposit from GMGA of $5,000 is required to establish the fund, and total deposits of $25,000 must be accumulated before the first Master Gardener Scholarship can be awarded. The University of Georgia Foundation will determine spending limits annually based upon investment returns from the fund.
