Fayette County Extension, 140 Stonewall Avenue W., Suite 210, Fayetteville, GA 30214. Cost: FREE. Join us for our 2025 tree give away! This year we are giving away 1 catalpa tree per family. Catalpa trees are a medium deciduous tree that has beautiful bell-shaped blossoms and large heart shaped leaves. This tree is visited by pollinators and is the host plant for the catalpa sphinx moth. This tree has also been called the fish bait tree as the catalpa sphinx moth caterpillars are good for fishing bait. You will need an open space that has full sun with moist but well-draining soils. Tree quantities are limited and are on a first come first serve basis.
