Visitor Center, Gardenside Room, $90 (includes the “Portals” deck of cards, an autographed “Portals” book, and materials). Come explore the intersection of landscape and self with “Portals,” a deck of cards created by Beth Thompson. With her camera in hand, Beth followed in the footsteps of the botanist William Bartram, who explored the Southeast prior to the Revolutionary War and chronicled his adventures in Travels (1791). From Beth’s journey a deck of 48 artist-designed cards and a book evolved. Beginning with a review of the year 2019, this class will move into journaling exercises and mindfulness activities to explore desires and goals for the new year as well as how they intersect with the environment. Participants will explore the new year using the “Portals” cards, journal prompts, and collage but are encouraged to bring any additional craft supplies to create their vision for the new year. All participants in this workshop will receive their own copy of the “Portals” card deck as well as an autographed “Portals” book. Will you be one of the intrepid explorers venturing into the new year? Register at www.botgarden.uga.edu or 706–542–6156.
